Yutong has reached an important milestone in Australia with the delivery of its 2,000th bus, reflecting not only market growth but also the trust built with customers over time.

On 19 December 2025, the milestone vehicle — a Yutong C12 coach — was delivered in Tom Price in Western Australia’s Pilbara region. The vehicle was received by Sodexo to support Rio Tinto’s operations, providing workforce transport between the airport, camps and mine sites.

Operations in remote regions demand high levels of reliability, durability and service support. For operators, a vehicle delivery represents far more than the handover of a bus; it involves specification, compliance preparation, commissioning, training and ongoing service support.

Scott Leahy, Mass Transport Manager for Sodexo Australia’s Rio Tinto contract, said:

“Sodexo’s transport operations move more than three million workers annually across 6.5 million kilometres in some of Australia’s most remote areas. In 2026, we strengthened these services with the purchase of 38 Yutong buses. The delivery process was seamless, and the fleet was site-ready upon arrival. The strong local after-sales support from the VDI Perth team also gives us confidence in maintaining reliable operations.”

Today, Yutong buses serve a wide range of sectors across Australia, including school transport, charter and touring, community transport, and mining operations.

At the same time, Yutong is working with partners to advance zero-emission transport solutions. Sodexo has also begun introducing the Yutong C12E battery-electric coach as part of its exploration of more sustainable fleet operations.

With a growing service network across Australia, including more than 50 service partner locations, Yutong continues to strengthen its delivery, training and support capabilities.
